Brag Page

This month we have chosen to highlight one of the horses you haven't seen all dolled up at the shows, but is a star nonetheless.

General Stonewall Jackson and I have only been together for 2 years. I got him when he was six. Stone was broke, but had no idea what rhythm or contact was and liked to trot around as fast as he could. We then started working with Heather Oleson and he has improved a lot. He still likes to go off in the opposite direction I am steering him towards, but is doing much better

He is very solid under saddle, in that he is not spooky and does not buck. He does pin his ears in objection to starting his work and often needs a friendly reminder from the whip that I am the boss and he has to get to work. We have not shown, since we barely have a decent canter. Maybe next year, although I am not very competitive and showing is a lot of work. I hope to do a lot of trail riding with him also.
Stone loves treats, is very mouthy, and loves to fast fight with any one that is willing. Before I boarded at Sonnenberg, I was at Green Meadow - Tracie Bjugan's barn. The door to Stone's stall was metal and had hinges - instead of sliding. One morning, the barn manger walked in and saw a lot of the blankets all over the aisles and trash bins knocked over. She was going to blame the dog until she heard some clomping foot steps, and there was Stonewall looking at her from across the arena. My little - not really so little - Dennis the Menace, had lifted his metal door off the hinges and had had a wonderful night out on the town visiting everyone and making a big old mess. Well, he did it again! So bolts were screwed in above the hinges and he could no longer escape. - Holly Schlepp

There's More...

I have exciting news! In the USDF year-end standings, Palladio (Belgian Warmblood)and I, received first place in AA First Level for 2006!! - Jessie Smith

I have a Brag! I just got word that "Wynona" the mare I bred and sold to California last year (who I LOVED and wanted to keep forever...along with all of the rest of the horses of mine that are supposed to be for sale but I can't get rid of because they're "too fun to ride") just went to her first show and won both of her classes with a 69 and a 71%. :-) -Barb Crabbe
